Target Audience: This webinar is intended for public health nurses and other healthcare personnel who are involved in providing TB care at the end of life. This training opportunity is available to a national audience.

Description: Caring for patients living with TB at the end of life can present many challenges. This webinar will review patient scenarios, factors to consider, and general guidance to support patients and protect public health. Presenters will share hospice and palliative care resources to help patients, families, and healthcare staff. This webinar is part of a collaborative Nurse Education Series. The 4 Tuberculosis Centers of Excellence for Training, Education, and Medical Consultation (TB COEs)  have partnered with the National Tuberculosis Nursing Coalition (NTNC) to offer a tuberculosis nurse case conference series.

Learning Objectives (partial):

By the end of the training, participants will be able to:

  • identify three key factors to consider when a person with TB disease is at end of life 
  • describe hospice and palliative care services and how these can support TB patients at the end of life 
  • identify tools and strategies for communicating with family members to build trust

The Curry International Tuberculosis Center is approved as a provider of continuing education by the California State Board of Registered Nurses, Provider Number CEP 12308. This training is approved for up to 2.00 continuing education hours. Board requirements prevent us from offering CE credit to people who arrive more than 15 minutes after the start of the training, or leave the training early. Therefore, partial credit will not be awarded.
