Target Audience: This webinar is intended for local public health agencies (LPHAs); state public health agencies; LPHA directors, supervisors, managers; and other healthcare personnel who process billing. This training opportunity is available to a national audience. 

Description: Developing a billing program at your LPHA can be a daunting task; it may be difficult to know where to begin or whether the benefits will outweigh the costs. This webinar will cover how and what it takes to get started and provide reflections and success stories to make the process more transparent, accessible, and achievable. Although this webinar will focus on billing programs for tuberculosis (TB), the tools and information shared will be applicable to multiple billing areas in public health. 

Learning Objectives:

By the end of the training, participants will be able to:

  • describe the information needed and first steps to take to develop a billing program to support and sustain public health programming
  • describe 2 staffing strategies for processing reimbursements to sustain billing programs
  • identify 5 types of tuberculosis services that can be reimbursed by health insurance to sustain TB programs

The Curry International Tuberculosis Center is approved as a provider of continuing education by the California State Board of Registered Nurses, Provider Number CEP 12308. This training is approved for up to 1.75 continuing education hours. Board requirements prevent us from offering CE credit to people who arrive more than 15 minutes after the start of the training, or leave the training early. Therefore, partial credit will not be awarded.

 

The Curry International Tuberculosis Center is designated as a Tuberculosis Center of Excellence for Training, Education, and Medical Consultation (TB COE) via a funded cooperative agreement with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The Curry International Tuberculosis Center prioritizes learners from the western region of the United States which consists of seventeen jurisdictions: Alaska, Arizona, California (including Los Angeles, San Diego, and San Francisco), Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, Utah, Washington, Wyoming, and the U.S. Pacific Island Territories.
