Level 1: TB Basics, Contact Investigation, and Latent TB Infection

The Curry International Tuberculosis Center (CITC) has updated its Tuberculosis Case Management and Contact Investigation Intensive (TB CMCI) by shifting from live virtual trainings to a hybrid format. This includes online self-paced modules and one live interactive session.

Target Audience

  • Public health professionals (public health/disease control investigators and nurses) who are new to TB prevention and care responsibilities

Each asynchronous module will take approximately 30-60 minutes to complete. Level 1 covers the following modules:

  1. Tuberculosis Basics
  2. Tuberculosis Contact Investigation Framework and Tools
  3. Tuberculosis Patient Interview
  4. Diagnosing Latent TB Infection
  5. Case Management and Coordination of Latent TB Infection Treatment and Care

 

Dates: April-June 2025. Please note that registration for this course will open April 2025.

Cost: All CITC trainings are free of charge.

Credit: This training is approved for up to 5.0 nursing continuing education hours.

Course Requirements:

To earn credit for this course, you must:

  • Complete all five modules within the designated time period
  • Actively engage in discussion and activities
  • Attend one live session
  • Complete the final evaluation

These Level 1 training materials are designed for public health professionals (public health/disease control investigators and nurses) who are new to TB prevention and care responsibilities. Please note that additional training materials for TB nurse case managers caring for persons with TB disease will be provided in Level 2: TB Clinical and Case Management. Level 2 covers the following modules:

  1. Basic Lab Diagnostics for TB Disease
  2. Treatment of Drug-Susceptible TB
  3. Case Management for Drug-Susceptible TB
  4. Determining Treatment Completion for Drug-Susceptible TB
