This is an in-person [Oakland, CA] training with no remote option available.

  • Day 1 (Tuesday, September 24): 8:30 am -  4:00pm
  • Day 2 (Wednesday, September 25): 8:30 am - 3:45pm

Directions and hotel information will be included with acceptance emails.

Note: For those accepted into the training, We strongly encourage participants to read the book, 'Dare to Lead', before the workshop.

Cost: There is no fee for this training.

Credit: This training is approved for up to 10.00 continuing education hours (see below). Certificates will be available approximately 12 weeks after the training to participants who complete the entire training and evaluation.

Target Audience: This training is intended for supervisors, managers, nurses, physicians, or other tuberculosis public health professionals who lead teams. If you or your team is feeling stuck - we encourage you to join us in a conversation.

Description: This workshop will focus on Brené Brown’s book, Dare to Lead. It will review the 4 different sections, reflecting on the overall concepts and linking them to the public health environment. Participants will evaluate the health and well-being of their team and how to best support their team as a leader. The workshop will allow time for reflection, connection, and sharing. We strongly encourage participants to read the book before the workshop.

Learning Objectives:

By the end of the training, participants will be able to:

  • Recognize vulnerability as the emotion we feel during times of uncertainty, risk, and emotional exposure to support your own well-being
  • Reflect on your values and experiences to understand how your state of balance impacts your team
  • Explain why trust is foundational for effective leadership to create a positive work environment
  • Understand the necessity of resilience to promote a growth mindset
  • Identify the four skill sets that makeup courage: rumbling with vulnerability, living into our values, BRAVING trust, and learning to rise

The Curry International Tuberculosis Center is approved as a provider of continuing education by the California State Board of Registered Nurses, Provider Number CEP 12308. This training is approved for up to 10.00 continuing education hours. Board requirements prevent us from offering CE credit to people who arrive more than 15 minutes after the start of the training, or leave the training early. Therefore, partial credit will not be awarded.
 

The Curry International Tuberculosis Center is designated as a Tuberculosis Center of Excellence for Training, Education, and Medical Consultation (TB COE) via a funded cooperative agreement with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The Curry International Tuberculosis Center prioritizes learners from the western region of the United States which consists of seventeen jurisdictions: Alaska, Arizona, California (including Los Angeles, San Diego, and San Francisco), Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, Utah, Washington, Wyoming, and the U.S. Pacific Island Territories.
