March 22, 2024: UCSF World TB Day symposium and CITC 30th anniversary celebration
On March 22, 2024, the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) will present a World TB Day symposium co-hosted by the UCSF Center for Tuberculosis and CITC. This year’s day-long event will also mark the 30th anniversary of the founding of CITC.
Each year World TB Day commemorates the date in 1882 when Dr. Robert Koch announced his discovery of M. tuberculosis, the bacillus that causes TB. World TB Day is an opportunity for organizations of all sizes – from the World Health Organization to local health departments – to raise public awareness about the devastating consequences of TB, and to step up efforts to end the global TB epidemic.
UCSF’s World TB Day symposium will feature presentations from international leaders in TB research and policymaking and showcase UCSF research advances and upcoming programs. The event will also be an occasion to highlight CITC’s 30-year history as a center of excellence for TB training, education, and medical consultation.
Participants may attend in person (at the UCSF Mission Bay campus in San Francisco) or virtually. Please monitor the CITC website, email listserv, and social media for registration information, coming soon.
