Bridges to Build: Improving TB Care for African American Patients

Target Audience: This training is intended for healthcare professionals, tuberculosis survivors and supporters who provide care for the tuberculosis community.

Description: 

This 90-minute webinar will discuss how we can help participants better understand how the historical (and ongoing) experience of anti-black racism impacts African Americans' access to care and the quality of care they receive. We will share specific strategies for clinicians and programs to consider so that TB care for African American patients can be improved, leading to better health outcomes.

Training Objectives:

By the end of the webinar, participants will be able to:

• identify the specific barriers that can prevent clinicians and their African American patients from developing the trust and rapport needed for effective TB care
• identify 5 approaches to overcome these barriers and improve the clinic or TB care experience for African American patients
